Banky W Wins PDP Primary Despite Controversy

The Peoples Democratic Party Primary election for House of Representatives in Eti-Osa Federal Constituency has been marred by controversy as loyalists of famous music star, Bankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, have yet to be officially declared the winner of the primary that has been held since Monday after he was said to have clinched the ticket.

R findings on Friday revealed that all is not well for Banky W, as he is not to be proclaimed the winner of the PDP’s House of Representatives primary poll.

Many of his admirers erupted in joy on Monday after learning that the R&B musician, who is running for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat, had supposedly won the ticket, even as many people waited patiently for his party’s official announcement.

The music star received 28 votes, outnumbering his nearest competitor, who was alleged to have received three votes.

Meanwhile, a fresh twist in the victory story arose on Friday, with reports circulating that he had lost the election and that another candidate had been proclaimed the winner. With misunderstanding in Banky W’s camp and among his followers, some resorted to Twitter to express their outrage and displeasure, warning that Banky’s win should not be robbed from him.

Deji Adeyanju, a popular activist, dubbed the PDP a “cursed” party on Twitter on Friday, claiming that Banky W had lost the primary. He urged the artist to quit the PDP and join another political party in order to realize his ambition.

In an interview, the musician stated that he thought the delay was necessary to allow the party to get everything correct.

“I believe that is the cause of the delay; if it takes a little longer, that is OK.” “We’ll remain here as long as it takes, and we’ll stay until the process is over,” he added.
