Burna Boy pays a visit to the United Nations before his play in New York.
Damini Ogulu, commonly known as Burna Boy, a Grammy-winning Nigerian artist, paid a visit to the United Nations Headquarters in New York ahead of his sold-out gig at Madison Square Garden in the same city.
During the visit, Burna Boy, accompanied by his mother and manager, Bose Ogulu, met with the UN Deputy Secretary-General, Nigeria’s Amina Mohammed.
On Thursday morning, Mohammed posted a photo of the visit on her Twitter page, where she praised the musician for encouraging young people with his skills.
“I had the opportunity to welcome my countrymen @burnaboy here at the @UN HQ,” she wrote.
“Burna’s incredible abilities continue to inspire young people all across the world.”
The musician also posted clips of the visit on his Instagram feed.
Burna Boy is the first African musician to sell out New York’s popular event center.
Burna Boy’s recent album, Twice As Tall, which was published in August 2020, set a new record and earned the artist his first Grammy nomination.
The singer was declared the first African artist to reach 200 million plays on the music streaming platform Boomplay in February.
