The Delta State Police Command has detained a suspected cultist in connection with the assassination of Mr. Cyril Mudiagbe, an assistant to the state’s Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, in Sapele town, Sapele Local Council.

On Sunday night, Mudiagbe, also known as Cyril Makanaki, was assassinated.

The Guardian has learned that the late Mudiagbe, a member of the Eiye confraternity and vigilante, had disagreements with other competing cults.

He was murdered in the middle of the night at his home and discovered the next morning in a pool of his own blood.

The event created tension in the neighborhood as security officers, including vigilante group members, took up the search for the murders.

As a result of the event, several of the stores in the neighborhood have also closed.

According to other neighbors, the killers were fierce-looking gunmen who came to loot in the plaza outside his house before going for him.

According to another account, Mudiagbe was shot through the window by the intruders, who “banged on his glass and when he opened his window, they shot him on the chest.”

When contacted, Edafe Bright, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), verified the occurrence, emphasizing that “Cyrill Mudiagbe was slain during a cult conflict between Eiye and other competing cult organizations.”

According to Edafe, one person has been apprehended in connection with the death, but police are still looking for others.
