A disgruntled admirer allegedly harassed the veteran actor in his birthplace of Ilaro.
Taiwo Hassan, commonly known as Ogogo, a veteran Nollywood actor, has opened out about the events that led to a brawl between him and a fan on the streets of Ilaro, Ogun state.
A video of the actor brawling with an unnamed man in the middle of a throng became viral online, and he then got into his car and drove away from the area.
In response to the event, Ogogo took to his Instagram page on Friday, June 24, 2022, to provide his perspective.
The former boxer stated he was in his hometown of Ilaro for a project inspection when five unknown admirers approached him and demanded money.
He said that after parting with all of his money, a greedy admirer demanded more and dragged his native costume ‘agbada’ in the process, resulting in his reaction.
Infuriated by the abuse, Ogogo got into a brawl with the fan after daring him to do his worst.
“Before bloggers pick this up, let me explain my side of the story and the truth,” the actor remarked as he described what transpired.
“I was in Ilaro, my own hometown, for an inspection of a project, after which several unknown people went up to me for the standard evaluations,” he explained. ‘We saw your movie,’ ‘give up money,’ ‘We watched you throughout our childhood…’ As an actor, we hear all of these things on a daily basis.
“I provided everything I had, and one of them dragged me by my Agbada and demanded an amount I couldn’t afford.” When I begged him to go, he answered, ‘Do your worst.’ “The rest is fiction.”
“Do you get paid for doing your job?” No. It is also our responsibility. Accept whatever we provide when we do. “Keep in mind that once a boxer, always a boxer,” he added.
Ogogo began acting in 1981, shortly after beginning employment as a mechanic. He resigned from his job in the water business in 1994 to pursue acting full-time.
