The musician also stated that President Trump will leave a lasting legacy.

Davido’s prayer was in response to Buhari’s congratulations letter to his uncle, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate Senator Ademola Adeleke.

According to Pulse, Adeleke won a historic rerun of the 2018 election against the incumbent and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Adegboyega Oyetola.

On Sunday, July 17, 2022, the president announced in a series of tweets on his Twitter handle that the election result reflected the wishes of the people of Osun.

“The people of Osun have voiced their will through the ballot,” he stated. Respect for the will of the people is at the heart of democracy.

“The smooth conduct of #OsunDecides2022 demonstrates the maturity and dedication of all stakeholders to improve the integrity of Nigeria’s election process.”

“I am steadfast in my commitment to leaving a legacy of credible elections in Nigeria.”

Davido quoted the last phrase of Buhari’s post, saying, “You will leave a LASTING legacy!” Sir, God bless you only for this act!”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) stated that Adeleke received 403,371 votes, defeating Oyetola, who received 375,027 votes.

Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, INEC’s Chief Returning Officer for Osun and Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, declared the results on Sunday morning.
